Day 1

Well we all arrived in Devon to find that there was still a bit of work to be done on the RIB. George immediately got stuck into the work and with his headtorch on (no photos allowed , sorry ladies) he hauled the RIB up to sea worthy status. Chris bought a giant Chinese meal from the local takeout and as 2am approached and passed the team settled down for a few hours sleep. We’re off now and will update you as to how it’s going later. We’re all a bit tired but very confident of sucess.

  1. Morning all. Here we go again! At least it’s only a week of angst this time and in home waters! However, we would like to have words with Mr Chalk, who seems to be having an undue influence on both our sons…”mother is talking about slapping an ASBO on him!”
That said, the very best of luck for your challenge. We wish you a safe passage and lots of fun.Love Mum & Dad Martin.
PS. Hello again to Sue from Cornwall – trust all is well with you.
PPS. Serious respect and many thanks to Georgie for undertaking to look after you all!!!

  3. Hi Phil and Chris and also Georgie on land and hi to those of you I dont know – hope all goes well and good luck for the challenge. Hope the bums dont get too bruised if the waves are a bit bumpy!

  6. Hello Team

My best wishes to the team for fine, calm weather throughout your perulous journey. And, a big HELLO to Mum & Dad Martin – sorry for the delay in replying to your message – I think I must have been asleep for weeks, throughout all that rainy weather! Let’s hope that our brave competitors don’t see any more of that horrible soggy stuff while they are travelling the circumferance of the British Isles… – they will be surrounded with enough water anyhow!!! I think the team are very brave (or perhaps MAD) to decide to tackle this race.
With best wishes and a safe return to Cowes
    Love Sue from Cornwall xxx

  7. I do believe there in fact IS a photo of George with the fetching headgear…
